Zeolite
What is Zeolite?
Natural zeolite belongs to the group of microporous crystalline aluminosilicates. Their main function is to adsorb moisture and capture pollutants in agriculture and water treatment. Zeolites have a high cation exchange capacity which allows the adsorption of water molecules, heavy metal ions and ammonium.
Natural zeolites adsorb cations such as mercury, cadmium and nickel or arsenic which are heavier metals. On the other hand, they also release calcium, magnesium and phosphate which are characterised as healthy minerals for individual and human use.
Zeolite is a non-toxic mineral that has no harmful effects on health or the environment. It is completely ecological and sustainable.
Available variants
Zeonat zeolites are a mineral with a wide range of applications in various industries. Their ability to adsorb gases and liquids makes them particularly effective in the treatment of water and solid waste, as well as in improving the quality of life of livestock in agriculture and the food industry.
In addition, Zeonat zeolite is a very efficient turf conditioner for golf courses, with its USGA approved grade and is a reliable material in construction.
Zeonat zeolite’s versatility is also due to its moisture absorption capacity, which makes it ideal for the food industry to extend the shelf life of food by absorbing moisture in packaging.
In aquaculture, Zeonat zeolites are used as part of the filtration system to control water quality and improve fish health.
In summary, Zeonat zeolites are a versatile and effective solution for a variety of applications in industry, including turf management, water and solid waste treatment, livestock quality of life improvements, industrial processes, aquaculture, among others.

¿What are the applications of zeolites?
Zeolite is a mineral used for industrial, agro-ecological and biological developments.
In construction, it is mainly used in the manufacture of concrete, although new applications are being developed.
New applications are being developed in the field of zeolite construction, but it can also be used for human health and animal nutrition.
Animal nutrition and bedding
Zeolite is used as a feed supplement for livestock. It provides vitamins and proteins and absorbs heavy materials and mycotoxins. It reduces diarrhoea and ammonium emissions, increases mineral assimilation.
For animal bedding, including bedding for chickens, hens, and other animals (pigs, cattle, horses, sheep and goats), zeolite reduces odours, humidity, ammonium concentration and the presence of parasites, larvae and flies. Zeolite regulates the pH of bedding and significantly reduces infectious diseases such as foot rot, respiratory and eye diseases.
Food
Zeolite is also used for food and human health. It helps fight diarrhoea, adsorbs toxins, releases minerals from the body and helps prevent cancer.
Fertilizers
Used to improve growing soils, for greenhouses, or as additives in substrates for garden and potting plants. Zeolite has the ability to accumulate nutrients from watering or rainfall and then slowly release them in times of drought.
It is an excellent water regulator for plants and retains certain minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium and nitrogen. One of the advantages of using natural zeolite in cultivation is that it allows you to extend watering times and optimise them in an environmentally friendly way. It can be used as a sunscreen and a barrier for insects and fungi in delicate crops.
Water treatment
Zeolite is suitable for the purification of industrial and waste water. It absorbs heavy materials, cations and bad odours. It can retain particles down to 5 microns.
It is also used for water purification in swimming pools and fish farms and can remove particles such as limescale and chloramines.
Zeolite is also used for the purification of drinking water, removing chemicals from drinking water treatment.
Waste filtration
Used for the purification and filtration of gases. Zeolite helps remove moisture, odours, ammonia and other toxic particles from gases.
Concrete and ceramics
Natural zeolite can be used in construction for the manufacture of concrete and as a replacement for Portland cement in cements up to 30 MPa in strength. During the setting stage of concrete, zeolite distributes the water evenly, thanks to its absorption power: It accumulates water.
Soil improvement
Due to its hygroscopic qualities and pH levelling capacity, zeolite can also be used as a soil stabiliser or soil improver. Mixed with cement, it creates a homogeneous, porous structure that is highly resistant and lighter than traditional concrete.
Cosmetics and odours
In cosmetics it is used for its ability to eliminate toxins, moisturise and improve skin tone.
It is also very effective in eliminating bad odours and sweat. Zeolite is a deodorant and moisture absorber, which is why it is also used as cat litter.
